I Remember

I remember that day, like I said I would.

I can never forget, don’t know how I could.

They stand no more, those towers so tall,

from where I watched so many fall.

Those memories, the pain, the smoke-filled sky…

My heart screams, ” God, why, Lord, why?”

So much destruction from hearts full of hate,

September 11, that was the date.

But it wasn’t just hate that day, I did see.

I saw courage, and guts, and empathy.

I saw men march in-to help others out;

a kind of love, most know nothing about.

The souls that survived, and those that were lost,

all suffered so much; too high was the cost.

That is why we can never forget that day,

“REMEMBER ME,”I hear them say.
